If you look at the position you can see that white can mate in many ways:
White will mate in 3 moves after: 1.d7 (threatening d8Q/R and moving the bishop away from g8 or mating by playing the knight via d6 to f7) 1... Be4 (other moves also lose, see note after 1.d7) 2.Qxe4 g5 3.Qd4/e5#Alternatively, 1.Ne7 (with the idea 2.Nf5 and 3.Qxg7#) 1... Be4 2.Qxe4 g5 3.Qd4/e5# |
